Using Wikai for your trade, business or profession — consulting, journalism, paid research, an internal knowledge base — including use by or for an organisation of any kind. Academic study and research is free, funded or not, for the person doing the work: a PhD student stays free even though a university employs them. Anything outside your work is free too.

If you're doing your own study or research, no — that's free, funded or not. If an organisation is putting Wikai to work — a charity's knowledge base, a department-wide rollout — that's commercial, non-profit or not. We'd rather be straight about that than pretend budgets don't exist. If the price is genuinely a problem for your organisation, email us: there's a discount for non-profits and educational institutions, and asking is all it takes.

Yes — 30 days. The free tier covers personal use, so trying Wikai on real work needs its own permission, and the licence grants one: a single 30-day window per organisation to decide whether to buy. After that, commercial use needs a Supporter licence. Either way the free tier keeps working for personal use, and your files stay yours.

No — and that's deliberate. Wikai is bring-your-own-agent: you connect your own Claude Code subscription or an Anthropic API key, and AI usage is billed by your provider, not by us. That means no token markup, you reuse a subscription you may already pay for, and your prompts go only to the backend you chose. Browsing, search, and your ingested pages work without it; the chat sidebar and agent-maintained edits need a connected agent.

Cancel anytime: the Manage subscription page (linked in the footer) emails you a secure link to your billing portal, where cancelling is one click. You keep Supporter features until the end of the period you've paid for, then the app reverts to free-tier behaviour. You never lose access to your wiki content — the files are on your disk.

Yes — a full refund on your first charge within 30 days, no questions asked. That's our own guarantee, and it's longer than the withdrawal period most consumer law gives you; nothing here removes those rights, or affects your position if Wikai is faulty or not as described. Yes. Your wikis live on your disk and never transit our servers. Two optional features send data out only when you use them: the chat sidebar sends prompts to the agent backend you connected (your Claude Code or Anthropic key), and internet search — off by default — sends queries to an external search provider (Tavily or Brave). Beyond that we hold only billing info (via Paddle) and a licence key. See the privacy policy for the full picture.

Not yet. You can run Wikai on as many of your own machines as you like, but each keeps its own local wikis — nothing syncs between them automatically. Move the files yourself for now; sync is on the roadmap.

Yes. A Supporter licence covers you on as many of your own machines as you like — laptop, desktop, work machine. What it doesn't cover is several people sharing one licence: that's one licence per person. For team usage, a multi-user offering is on the roadmap.

Wikai is a real product from a solo founder (Atomic Bits BV, Belgium). The Supporter tier funds ongoing development and gives commercial users a clear legal licence. If €8/mo is too much, the free tier covers personal use — genuinely, forever.
